Physical disability isn’t a curse or plague that it becomes necessary to make distance from the bearer. But, the narrow mindset and stigma of the society has forced the bearers to think likewise. Be it office, shopping mall, public transport or elsewhere, no one leaves the opportunity to make the bearers feel that they aren’t the part of the rest. In an attempt to stop these malpractices towards the disabled and provide them some extra benefits, the Department of Transportation (DOT), United States has defined a rule named the Air Carrier Access Act, which prohibits discrimination on the basis of disability in air travel. This rule defines the rights of disabled air passengers and the obligations of airlines under this law. This rule applies to all US air carriers and carriers operated by foreign airline companies in the United States.
