Air France releases new first class amenity kits

Would some free high-end hand cream persuade you to book a first-class flight with Air France (AF) for your next trip to Europe?
Air France’s first class passengers are now being given new amenity kits with facial and body care treatments from French cosmetics company Carita.
Passengers in the French flag carrier’s “La Première” cabin (the airline’s first class offering) can get the kits in a choice of two colours: “Iced Mocha” and “French grey”. The kits have an imitation leather finish and magnetic fastening.
Here’s a list of what’s waiting inside Air France’s 2019 amenity kits:

The kits will be renewed every six months, Air France says.
In January, Air France rolled out a new series of business and premium economy class amenity kits featuring a special design marking the airline’s 85th anniversary

Hawaiian Airlines To Go Ultra Premium To Battle Southwest Airlines

Clearly Hawaiian Airlines are banking on the fact that not everyone measures their flight satisfaction on price alone. Their in-flight experience is a world away from Southwest, who operate on a very much ‘no frills’ basis.
The premium option
Where Hawaiian really stand out as being a world away from Southwest is in their service and hard product. While they did introduce basic economy fares to allow them to cater to the price sensitive end of the market, they’re also improving things at the pointy end of the aircraft too.
On the Airbus A321s, passengers can opt for a more luxurious experience.
Their 16 leather recliners in the premium cabin offer a generous 39” of pitch and various other amenities such as power outlets and seat back tablet holders.
For economy passengers who want to start their vacation in style, but without the high fare of business class, both the A321 and the A330 have a product Hawaiian call ‘extra comfort’.
These main cabin seats have around five inches of extra pitch, so are basically a premium economy selection.
“We’re going to really focus on doing what we do best, which is delivering our unique style of Hawaiian hospitality, making sure we take care of our guests,”

5 Coolest Airline Amenity Kits

It’s good to be a premium-class flier for reasons large (ample seating) and small these (Airline amenity kits).

American Airlines: First Class Kit American Airlines provides first-class passengers with practical yet stylish kits by Eames, the American design group known for chic office spaces. The padded 8x10 bag is printed with the iconic Eames dot design—and doubles as a tablet case. What’s inside? Dermalogica skin products, including nail treatment and hand cream, a minty lip balm, a moist toilette, plus a microfiber cloth to clean your device’s screen before stowing it for landing.

Delta Business: Elite Tumi Kits Luggage designer Tumi used its exclusive ballistic nylon for these amenity kits released in the winter of 2013. Malin+Goetz Neroli lotion and lip moisturizer and a Tumi eye mask are included in the sleek bag, as are a shoehorn and shoe polish—throwbacks to the golden age of air travel. The redesigned business-class experience doesn’t stop here: passengers feast on multicourse meals paired with wines by a James Beard–awarded sommelier and drift to sleep in Westin’s exclusive, hypoallergenic bedding.

Emirates: First Class Bulgari Amenity Kits Emirates is consistently ranked as one of the best airlines in the world, and its his-and-hers bags live up to that standard. The rugged, Italian-leather men’s kit contains Thé Rouge cologne, aftershave, and lotions as well as a reusable Trueffit & Hill razor. The silky women’s bag is also full of Thé Rouge products as well as a Bulgari travel mirror in matching satin. Can’t get enough Bulgari? The onboard Shower Spa stocks the brand, too.

Singapore Airlines: First Class Ferragamo Amenity Kits Ferragamo tops off the Singapore Airlines premier experience with its white and black branded clutch for women, complete with a miniature set of Signorina products: the standout is a one-ounce glass bottle of eau de toilette, trimmed with a pink ribbon and scented with floral jasmine and sweet panna cotta notes. Men get a soft PVC wash bag complete with aromatic ACQUA Essenziale toiletries, also by Salvatore Ferragamo. The fresh-scented cologne, hand cream, and lip balm aid the fight against jet lag.

JetBlue: Birchbox for Mint Experience When JetBlue, known for its egalitarian spirit, launched the Mint premium experience in summer 2013, it also introduced a line of his-and-hers amenity kits. The eco-friendly cardboard packs (made by Birchbox) feature sample-size products from cult favorite brands, such as Benefit mascara for women and Hanz de Fuko sponge wax for men.

DOT rule to prevent flight delays may actually cause more flight delays

When the Department of Transportation wrote its tarmac delay rule, it probably didn’t mean it to be taken quite so literally. According to research from Dartmouth College and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, the rule — which was established in 2010 to cut down on lengthy passenger delays — may actually contribute to an increase in passenger delays. The study shows that the airlines have become more likely to cancel flights that are delayed, rather than being fined by the DOT for violating the rules regarding tarmac delays.
